Malaysia’s WordPress community includes site owners, developers, designers, writers, translators, organisers and people who are still learning. Local meetups, WordCamps and online forums give people a place to share practical knowledge and contribute to the open-source project. Events are volunteer-organised, so check the official listing for current dates, venues and registration details.

  • Attend a meetup: local groups often hold talks, discussions or working sessions. Start with the WordPress meetup directory and confirm details with the local organiser.
  • Join a WordCamp: these community-led events bring WordPress users and contributors together for sessions and informal conversations. Check WordCamp Central for upcoming events and official information.
  • Ask for support: the WordPress support forums are useful for general questions. Remove credentials, personal data and private client details before posting.
  • Contribute: people can help with documentation, translation, support, testing, design, accessibility, event organisation and code. You do not need to be a developer to contribute.

Get more from community participation

Bring a question that can be discussed without sharing confidential information. Introduce yourself, listen to other people’s experience and offer help when you can. Community advice can point you towards options, but it is not an accountable review of your production environment. For a security incident, payment failure or data exposure, contact the responsible host or qualified specialist.

If you organise an event, make participation welcoming and accessible. Publish clear venue, language, ticket and accessibility details. Credit volunteers and follow the event’s code of conduct.

Keep expectations realistic

Meetups and WordCamps are places to learn, meet peers and contribute. They are not a guaranteed route to clients, jobs or technical answers. Event schedules and organisers change, so verify current information through the official channels.

Do I need to know WordPress before attending?

No. Many events welcome beginners and people from different roles. Check the session descriptions and ask the organiser if you are unsure whether an event suits your experience.
